To determine the volume of the ballast tank needed for your Nautilus you first weigh everything that's above the water line when the boat is surfaced. You then get a length of polycarbonate tubing set it on the scale, tare it to zero then slowly fill it with water until the weight of the water matches the weight of the above waterline items. You mark out the water level in the tube giving you the length of the ballast tank needed. Maybe add 10-15% margin to account for the items that go inside the tank like linkages, gas bottle, SAS float.
    Bingo!

As GRP has about the same specific gravity of fresh water the relationship is direct, if the freeboard material varies from fresh water, then you plug in the ratio and a little math tells you the weight of water needed.

Say you're building a GRP Space Battleship Yamato anime submarine with the massive superstructure and deck guns. What do you do when the resulting length of the BT exceed the available space in the WTC and hull?

Cool looking saw. Never seen one like that before.

The Mason Nautilus is a favorite of mine. I think I've been lucky enough to build up 3 of them so far. Ray did an amazing job on those boats.

Almost need to smoke after this posting. As usual I pour over your photos to glean what I can and recognize what I cannot do. Thank you for these images.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
