I post this **** just for guys like you, Tom. Old friend. You actually show up at events to drive the damned things! You, me, Ed, Casey, Steve, and a precious few others, we had the pool to ourselves!

These days too many r/c submarine 'builders' sit on their duffs watching YouTube as they're printer grinds away in the shop, doing most of the work for them; it's the very few (today) who put the work in with their own hands. If one actually puts the sweat-equity into something, then they will be more inclined to extract as much enjoyment from that something than if that something had been gifted to them or cranked out by a ****ing Star Trek Replicator!

At the last SubFest: How many models were working trouble-free that were robot produced as compared to those hand-crafted models built/assembled by practical Mechanics? (Rhetorical, yes. Just making a point). It's not the quality of the 3D printed submarine -- Steve has magnificently shown us that big or small, the material of these things is on a par with an injection formed kit. It's the lazy attitude of (most) people who rely on the 'easy way' into this game.
Most attendees who make these events spend their time either trimming boats (work that should have been done before hand); waiting for someone to help them out; or are camped out in a lawn-chair gabbing with others who should also be in the water making the pool safe for Democracy/Communism/National Socialism/The Empire/His Majesty. So many 'Captains'. So little traffic on and under the water.

If I wasn't helping someone out; taking a ****; chasing down a frequency pin; blowing up Lithium-polymer batteries; or eating doughnuts, I was driving one of my model submarines on and under the water. THAT'S WHY I GO TO REGATTAS!!! And to teach guys how to drive and get the most out of their toy submarine.
