...however i find Romel's idea of submerged filming not that far off. One could attach a ( detachable) keel sword with a camera pod on its tip.both for more stability in the water and filming whats going on below.

It's dizzy to see this up on Merriman's page. There's a page on this in 'Builder's' section. I actually used that Revell model to take some rough overall measurements from when seeing where this Engels model was at. It's basically there. When taking length, height, draft, neither was exact in all of them, length was though. I also bounced it against the Rossler U-boat book, especially against the drawing of the IXD2, which has that stern of that Revell U-505. That's the pitfall of referencing a model. Here's the back end of the actual U-505 and it's much wider. Neither models are correct though. Normally, I'm a detail freak and I'd care, but this is the end of an 18-year ordeal with this model I'm putting to rest. At one point I pretty much resolved that it was never going to get done and lost interest. Got it back a year ago and it's turned out pretty good (as long as you look from about 10ft away :)). Like a truck!!! Now we're talking. Make it amphibious. Forget about the camera. Who needs that? Okay, forget about all that, just put some fans on the bottom and make it a hovercraft :) Needs GPS too, so we can monitor it from the hotel room remotely.

Your talking to the Master of submerged filming! DON'T YOU KNOW WHO I AM??!!!... (I miss Ellie, just about at this point in my rant she would be throwing her shoes at me).

OK... I'm OK. Deep breaths, deep breaths.

The barge project got a late start and It will not be up to my standards till way past this years r/c boating season. For 2024 I have to be content with it just mounting the topside camera gimble (and maybe a tow body). During the upcoming winter months I plan on installing a moon-pool with retractable camera capsule as well as a Fat Shark viewable 'sighting camera' that will enslave the main camera gimble mechanism.

Here are some videos and pictures to demonstrate what I've done in this field. Ain't my first rodeo, boy's and girl's:

Above the waves you should be able to establish a wifi link between camera and a tablet/smartphone/VR goggles to monitor the footage.

I'll look into that, Andy. Thanks. Yeah, the objective is FPV aiming of the camera.

Something you may want to consider. Get in touch with Gopro, tell them what you're doing, tell them about the event you want to record. Tell them you will put the footage online, suggest you could include their name in the footage. They may well be willing to loan out some of their cameras for the event, and even add some sponsorship.

Another worthwhile suggestion from an 'experienced' builder. Keep them coming, Andy. I love feedback from those in the know.

The eventual owner-operator of this monster is Fred Freketic and he's 'camera rich'; still and video -- got all the latest do-dads and already has at his disposal every conceivable variant of GoPro's video camera.

Good stuff though. I've whored myself out for product in the past and sometimes encountered an unfortunate Sales Department assumption that once we accept the deal, the sponsors would adopt a, "we own your ass now, boy!" attitude. Ellie and I did not play well with those types once they revealed themselves. (Rue the day you **** off an Island Girl! Once off the chain one could not get out of her way fast enough... ain't that right, Dennis!).
