Aren't screws sensitive detail? I presume this has been declassified.

Yup. The old S5W propeller is old business. Trust me, I've been to this dance before.

I recall my dad talking about servicing British boats that were given/sold to the Greeks. He reckoned the plumbing from The Head was nasty, something to do with the consumption of large quantities of olive oil.

That appears to be the Katsonis, sister boat of the Papanikolis Y-2 class. The K on the tower Im guessing is the ID. Built in France in 37 for the Greeks to fend off the Italians. They only had about a half dozen of that class. Those blisters on her gunnel are the torpedo tubes. The Greeks didnt have pens to hide them so they hid them in caves out on some of the smaller islands.

ID:	82254 By the way olive oil was used to make synthetic diesel fuel. That smell from the old Brit boat your dad was on was from the steamed grape leaves in the galley that they were cooking while he was aboard. Back in the early 60s, I was aboard a Turkish diesel-lektrik post WWII Baleo class we gave them. Talk about your aromatheropy. Old socks and diesel and ozone. I also wasnt aware that the Poles had subs. I guess it stands to reason that they would.

the "Eagle" (Orzel) Built by the Dutch for Poland originally as a mine layer, in 36. Escaped Poland when Germany invaded and ran rogue for the ORP in the Baltic out of several Allied host country ports till 1940 and went lost on the final patrol. One of the first boats with twin 40mm bofors for anti aircraft among other things. Main gun was a 105mm. Ive seen several models of it. Look up the "Orzel incident" about one of the great escape's of the war. Stuff movies are made of. I enjoy commenting on the interisting facts behind some of the pictures. Having been around for 70 years, I have picked up a few things here and there. Litterally been around the world a couple times before I was 30. Being able to navigate an internet search sure helps in cutting out all the crap when you know what your looking for, as well.

I like the model, looks like a large one. Periscopes with the old "cartoon" style heads and port holes with enclosed bridge. Great detail on the twin 40....BUT WAIT!!! "Holey flyin BatCrap there, Robin ! " "Blow me down, shipwreck" as my Uncle Popeye use to say. Thats an amazing 3D CAD. It appears that could be my next build, if I ever finish a couple household projects. "Tiz the season" Old Conch's Know when a blow is commin. "Drums say this weekend Bubba, wake up call" Trees to trim, pull the shutters out, crank the generator, change the oil, top off the tanks, and "Stand by". By the first of Augest, they will be comming regularly once a week, till Halloween. Got a bad feeling about this year for some reason.
