OK, but the name is General, Mariano G Vallejo one of the California statehood proponent in the 1880s. SSBN 658 was a Ben Franklin boomer built in Mare Island in 63. Funny thing, Mare Island is in Vallejo California, wher they named the town after General Mariano way back in the day. Mare Island has seen alot of history go thru that yard either to new modifications, scrap or other countrys and sometimes museums. Ill bet that somewhere out in cyberland theres a Mare Island foto gallery, Perhaps in the Vallejo Cal. library

New sailors on an old boat. Was a bit baffeled for a second, theres no officer on the bridge, and those style kackies came out long after the Requin went to the river. Somewhere I have a picture of my son in his BDU diggies aboard the Bowfins when his ship stopped in Pearl during the Japanese tsunami. There was no off base Liberty so the kids in his division all went to the memorial and the Mo and the sub.Comment

Nice job Peter. The two posted on the previous page appear to be first a Yankee and second a Delta, just as you said. I already had the second one but have never seen the first one. Good Find. CHACHING!!!IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Mark, the only reason I.am unsure that the 1st picture was a Yankee is the way the rearplanes fair into the stern of the hull, I haven't seen the rear of a Yankee quite like that it could always be a later one I suppose. The second lot of pictures definitely looks like a Yankee in fact I am reasonably sure that it was K 329 so easy to check.I will keep posting the pics as I find them though as ot is better in a way to post pics twice than not at all.Peter.Comment

Heres a couple pictures that might be helpful as far as the Yankee is concerned.
