Yes, Peter is great. The one with the large nose is a Yankee Big nose, a modifacation off the standard Yankee. I have a lot of Yankee pictures but not too many below waterline. Here is the only other one that I have been able to find.

Peter, under "General Topics" Youll find I have a thread marked "Russian Sub ID". If you start at page 1 and go thru it a little at a time you might find it informative. Written by Yours Truly.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Peter, you are welcome to post to it or any other area that is relevant. If you like, you are quite welcome to start your own thread and post to it as you like. Its all for fun and to share information. The more eyes topside the better chance of spotting the Convoy, as they say. The more people probing the internet , the more good stuff we will find.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Pic is from the Archives of the KW Citizen. I remember hearing the story about the incident. Now Im tracking down the photographer for the paper. Might be a civilian local photographer judging from where the man stood taking that pic. Official Navy Photos like the overhead shot are hard to track down the associated pictures. Those Navy photographers mates, had some bad ass cameras with humungus lenses and usually took a roll or two of pictures on an assignment. The likelyhood of more than a handful of printed pictures kept for each incident is rare. On the otherhand, some of the private photographers in the city here, have large collections of their lifes work on file at the county library. There is one particular collection by Chief Dale McDonald. Long time Key West Photographer, and retired Chief of Navys Fire Department. Theres about 6000 ot so pics on file. Trouble is, you have to scan pages of thumbnails to click and view the caption. Hes one of three local Photogs with a collection at the library.Comment
