Interesting open and closed configuration for a pre- Gato boat, Grayling Tambor classIT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

That IS excellent reference. I always thought that those doors simply hinged back to clear the tubes. These photos show that the doors actually retract back and then slide forward. Nothing is ever simple about torpedo doors it would seem lol

Yeah, something like a Lugar's toggle-link at work at the forward end of the shutter door (the TRUTTA had this style shutter door). But, a bit more involved than a simple scissors action though.Who is John Galt?Comment

Keep in mind that this is a Tambor class boat, not a Gato.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Yeah, I know. But, it's representative of the two significant shutter door arrangements used by GATO-BALAO-TENCH class boats.Who is John Galt?Comment

Looks like the torpedo door shot is just before launch.
The post at the front is all wrapped and could be part
of the cerimonial cristening stand. Also the rope tied up
might be one of the braking ropes used at launch.
Just a quess thought.:popComment
