Do you perform any balancing (not on a broom stuck up your arse ) or just remove flash from the casting?
Make it simple, make strong, make it work!Comment

No attempt is made to statically or dynamically balance our propellers or PJ rotors. But that was a fair question. I'm sure there is significant imbalance to most of the cast metal screws we produced. Thing is, they don't spin at the rates where bearing wear, or system vibration would be an issue. These are marine propulsors that work in a liquid fluid, not a gas, so don't spin at significant RPM's.Who is John Galt?Comment

I remember a conversation with Simon at Prop Shop about metals used for his investment castings. Silicone bronze is the usual choice- modellers like hanging a nice bit of brass off the end of their tub, but he said that aluminium is a good choice if aesthetics are of less importance as you get a much lighter prop and it's generally more than strong enough.Comment

Unless there's a rubber tool material that can stand repeated cycles at 1400F it's not worth the labor for a vendor like us that produces in quantity at a low price-point. Our rubber tools can only work with metals that can be poured at a temperature below 700F.
D&E Miniatures was not a 'specialty' shop at the end: Our last decades were spent, as an exclusive vendor, affiliated with the Caswell Co. and Nautilus Drydocks where we engaged in production work, not one-offs.

ALFA build: Where can I find the small magnetic couplers used to connect control rods? I need about six sets.

Steve Reichmuth is lead on this project and informs me that the 3D printed hull master is in work. I'll reduce that, when it arrives, to tooling from which I'll produce 'kits for Steve, the 3D printer guy, myself and a few of my buddies. You're not one of my buddies? Here's a message from my buddy, Venom:
