What the hell were you thinking?
You thought making the corners within the too tall limber holes at their tops match the form of the corners at the bottom would fix these awful sphincter looking holes???
Damnit!
Rebuild with CA-baking soda grout within the holes top edge to reduce their height. Fine-tune the holes with files, sanding sticks, sandpaper twists of #240 sandpaper and god-knows-what to get them to proper shape.
Oh! Forgot to add these shots to show how to induce a tight radius into strip stock using a pinch-stick. File this trick away for future use. You're welcome!
