Kevin Mcleod was kind enough to send me a Marker bouy for my Oscar. Apparently Scaleships doesnt offer one. Kevin keeps coming to my rescue on this thing and I have promised him again and again that I would be willing to dance at his next wedding. So far he hasnt responded.

Looks like a little flying saucer. Its construction is perfectly round and contoured and knowing Kevin , Im sure its accurately sized.

Ok now what is this torpedo shaped deal here in the drawing and etched in my hull in numerous places? Anyone got any ideas? Here are three pictures of the rear of an Oscar by the rear hatch. If you look closely you can see there outline in the hull. Pay no attention to the Russian crewman guarding the submarine and partially blocking our view of the item in question.

And another thing that I want to know. What this thing???Its just forward of the rescue marking bouy.

This deal is a carefully marked and drilled support base for all the masts that I plan to install. All thats left is to paint it and carefully install it within the sail, checking for careful alignment.

Here is one of the masts that got damaged and I initiated a repair. And here is one of the periscopes that is made from stainless steel that I carefully shaped to make it look more like a periscope.

Here are some of the sail vents installed. The slots just need to be cleaned out a bit. A blast of shop air should do it.Here are the drawings showing the sail marker lights which appear to fold out when needed. Perhaps down the road a bit we will look into a lighting system from Kevin Mcleod.

And finally whats this thing on top of the escape module? In some photos the inner section is painted red and not in others. I drilled a hole in it to let air out as its the uppermost area of the sail and a prime spot for trapped air to reside, SOOO many questions. Whos got the answers?

I've wondered myself many times without being able to get any hard information, but I've come to suspect it's got something to do with mooring lines. I actually made up a little tool so I could replicate the indentation on the "aft" end of the toprpedo.

I'm not entirely certain what it is either, although I've suspected that it's some kind of lamp. Here's a close-up:

Again, I've got no hard evidence but I suspect that this feature covers an upper hatch out of the escape module. I too have noted that sometimes it appears red and sometimes it appears black. (I painted mine red, FWIW.)

Kevin, The center button on the escape marker bouy, Im going to say is painted black. Does that match what you have?

I got the sail painted. Yes, its gloss black. Why? Because I dont like flat black. I dont want my sub to look like a piece of charcoal. By painting it gloss and then installing dry transfer decals, ill need some protection for the decals. Thats where the clear satin comes in. Itll knock the shine off the paint and give some protection for the decals and it wont look totally flat.
