      Ok, wow! So you do the pours with the brass inserts in place already? Gets a perfect seal that way?

        Those 'inserts' are temporary: they suspend the soon to be encapsulated O-ring before pouring resin. Once the casting has changed state from liquid to solid the part is extracted from the tool, the 'insert is removed, leaving the O-ring to do its job of making watertight ether an axial running pushrod, or making water tight the union between bulkhead and conduit.
