Lookie here! The fixed faring and lower trailing edge of the control surfaces are curved to form pre-swirl stator blades for the propeller. Neat!

I did nine patrols on the DANIEL Pig-Fish. The boat handled very well near the surface, but surface-surge would bang the bow plane operating shafts in their bearings, making the Sonar guys crazy (the arrays were in the bow, above and below the nest).
