I thought my scale that I use for mixing materials was abused, but you have taken it to a whole new level. I'm not sure how you can even find it on the bench. Well done sir!

I put my scales into a clear plastic sandwich bag, when it gets too soiled just replace with a new one.Comment

Didn't you make a variable volume ballast tank in the past.
Was it a technological dead end?Make it simple, make strong, make it work!Comment

I see someone was asking about the Albacore forward dive plane mechanism. This is the link https://youtu.be/HYSpHQs2DLQ?t=1636
Looking at that, it appears the planes simply have to revolve around their axis by 270 degrees for their stowed position? If so an alternative method of achieving that would be to use a pair of servos designed for 360 degree rotation (which tend to use a hall based encoder rather than feedback pot) with a small microcontroller to intercept the signal from the receiver to extend the servo pulse to get the increased rotation.Comment

Good job in retrieving the boat, just curious, what was the course this happened?, not balanced positive enough? and heard something about a faulty pump, more interesting is the 35 degree dive that happened, was this all of a sudden?

As I write this Jake is upstairs stomping around as he bathtub trims the AKULA.
Initial finding is that, unmodified from before and after this weekends cluster-**** at Diamond Lake, the boat has the same perfect trim it had last boating season.
I blame Jake's poor ship-handling for the tragic, senseless, and criminal negligence on Jake's part was this recent loss-at-sea of a vital Soviet asset!
Upstairs (yeah... he's still stomping around, aimlessly up there), other than a slight starboard list in surface trim, no fixed ballast weight or buoyant foam has to be added/subtracted; and that's it, just a hunk of foam (from the below waterline) moved to the starboard side and he's got it.
Done!
Good day for me; I got a years worth of material to rag on Jake about anytime the mood hits me! Life is good.
