IAM Duxford has part of the remains of X-7 that took part in the Tirpitz raid. These lie alongside HMS Stickleback a upgraded X-Craft. I really enjoyed my visit almost 20 years ago. I would go as far as saying "jaw-dropping!' They even have a SR-71 and B-52 in a separate American building!Comment

Never seen it and I will pass. I am a James Caan fan too. A better X-craft movie is 'Above us the Waves'. I dug up this frame of the 1968 film. The stills don't feel right. See Cann with that long coat? I wonder if it ever occurred to the films costume designer how is Caan going to get though the hatch with that long coat on?
My favorite scene in 'Above us the Waves' is the X-craft crew captured (rescued) and standing on the Tirpitz, The crew lined up before the Tirpitz captain, the German commanding officer saluting the British crew his great respect for their courage. Meanwhile the crew is quietly knowing their mines attached are about to explode. I think I'd be bending my knees ( I gotta pee pose lol) standing at ease preparing for the shock of the deck probably about to be slammed up a few feet. lol.
Back to Davids thread. On with the models
