The little pointer is the snorkel mast mechanical indicator to show the position of the head valve. In this case open.
Prior to the start of snorkeling the head valve sea water sensing system is testing by pressing the test button. It momentarily shorts across the sensing electrodes causing air to shut the headvalve. The OOD watches the pointer thru the periscope to verify the position with the electrical indicator on the ballast control panel.
Ok you A gang types. What's the problem if the indicator light says open and the pointer is shut. It could violate the Number ONE rule of submaring.

A picture of Sante Fes bridge with another with some enhancements showing some internals. I take it that standard issue binoculars are still 15 x 50s?Click image for larger version

Looks Cold. Maybe its an optical illusion. Notice the boat on the left. I have no info on this picture but I can see that the missile deck has been cut down. It might be the Orenbach.Click image for larger version

Isaac Peral's submarine (The very first real operaational submrine in the world; Her 125 anniversary os comming soon) under repairs also. The've retired her from the fountain she was mounted before because realized that her planking was getting very very corroded and the inside is in a very bad condition. It's going to be completely refurbished and will stay in the same place she is now for exhibition. The project is to put a DAPHNE class also there on exhibition too. Let's see if budget allows.

By the way: A DAPHNE class model at Cartagena Naval Museum. It has the older bow shape.

And at last, something looking like James Bond's underwater car. It was used by Spanish Navy Combat Divers.

There is a paper model available in 48th scale for Isaac Peral's submarine http://www.ecardmodels.com/index.php...per-model.html
I'm sure the plans could be converted to either styrene of fiberglass for any of you here.

Thats a cool picture of a model. Unless they put soap in the pool, I would say thats sea water and the model is large. I wonder if the Ko Hyoteki deploys and is RC as well. That would be double cool!

Leelan, I would use the paper templates to cut aluminium flashing or thin sheet brass and make it. The first sub I ever built was a scratch built model made of paper over a wood frame, from drawings and blueprints of a type VIIC, just to see if I could build one. Once I did that It was easy to do the same thing in sheet metal. Now its my material of choice.

Thank you for the information. I'm trying to have a copy of the plans from Spanish NAvy. They told me they have, of course, the complete set of original plans.

Cool! VonHilde and reddevil, be sure to post threads of those builds when you start. They will be fun to watch.

I bought ecardmodels Jules Verne Nautilus as drawn by Ron Miller (IIRC) I fiber glassed the paper hull: https://www.facebook.com/leelan.lamp...1375112&type=3 She is patiently waiting for me to get back to her. This is my third attempt at a Vernian submarine. But I am watching all of you and learning vicariously. When the weather cools I will bring the hull back into the slip.

Now. Back to our regularly scheduled thread. BLUSHER

I strongly suspect it is one of our Canadian friends hanging out at the Ben Cliffe Lake. Cant be sure though. Its definitely not mine. I dont care for the 4 window jobs. Good photography though.
