Plenty of rotation if the pinion is small enough.

    How's the KILO going?

Seems a little "overboard" for K.I.S.S.!?

I'm pretty confident that what I was thinking of doing'll work like a champ
for a "looks-like:works-like" scenario!!! After all, it is just for show!!

Also, really tight space up forward! The "float-and-fulcrum", now THAT, I got
      room for!!

Float-and-fulcrum fine. Just put the half-way point along the fulcrum arm to the rack.

And deployed, non-operational bow planes will do much to increase the boats response to stern plane position (see: Type-17).

" Just put the half-way point along the fulcrum arm to the rack."

            No rack, M!!

Am planning on a piece of brass tubing "coined" on one end, where the dive plane control arms will connect,
"coined" again, in the "center" where the pivot point will come to be, and the bulb end of a pipette on the other end, which will provide the
floatation to operate the control arm "linkage"!

Really simple! Just hope it works as well as I think it will!!

No time yet to finish my Kilo.

Currently in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Tell me about it ... I'm working it seven days a week!

What's a Filipino doing in Nippon land? A little pay-back, maybe? Ellie says her brother still has some old Japanese ammo (small arms bullets and hand-grenades) left behind after the Emperor's troopies were shown the door back in the day.

Was that a hint of a whine in that voice?
Better not burn the candle on both ends. We need you to be around for a long time! Tell Mike you want a paid vacation. We will sit back and watch the fireworks. :-)

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Yeah, I'll do that ... the moment I lose the will-to-live.

                      You're not helping, Tom!

Actually, Ellie and I had a talk about the work-load the other day. She says she's never seen me happier. And she's right: In my 60's I'm finally getting up in the morning knowing I'll spend a good portion of the day doing what I've always wanted to do. And, being self-employed, I can take breaks and meals when they suit me.

Today I'm the top-guy in the r/c model submarine game in the US. Not bad. Brains, hard-work, good looks -- it's all finally paid off.

                      Whine? No. Bragg'n!

I gotta throw a wrench in things. You make a beautiful device called an SD out of acrylic tube, electronics, air pumps and silicon. But, if you were to make a very similar device, and say name it for ED, you could be getting $1000 a copy from Medicare. Just Sayin!

                          Lexan, ******! .... Lexan!!!

God, I hope Mike does not see the above post -- he gets a whiff of that kind of money next thing I know he's dragging my fat ass to every AMA convention on the planet, jabbing me in the ribs with a cattle-prod as he commands, "Dance, Monkey-Boy ... Dance!!!".

LOL. When i acquired a 2" RCABS cylinder my wife asked what it was, told her it was a "enlarger".

                                Hi, Y'all!!

At the risk of interrupting the "thread hijacking" goin' on here, , I'm gonna interject with some stuff that
actually deals with my Gato build! K?????? Cool!

Anyway, I did little tweaking on the previously added control arms on the forward planes.
Shortened them, "coined" the ends, and bent them so they'd meet up in the middle of the sub.
Also drilled 1/32" diameter holes in the ends to accept a 1/32" diameter pin.

They're currently mounted to a piece of basswood to hold them steady while I piddle around with them.

Then took a really short length of 1/16" i.d. brass tubing, 'bout 13/32" long, and CA'd it to the end of the 1/32" wire. This will
be the "pivot operating gizmo control arm retainer thingy"!! ( for lack of a better grouping of words!) It's at the top of the photo, above the dive planes.
Below the dive planes is what will become the fulcrum which will, if all goes according to plan, make the
                                whole enchilada function.
