Here’s a stripped down basic demonstration of the torpedo launch technique that I use for the tubes in the type VIIC build. The torpedo, wether it is electric or gas propelled is pushed out of the launch tube by a floating piston in the tube. The piston is moved down tube from the breach of the tube towards the muzzle end by a volume or air that will only allow this distance of travel and no further movement for the piston (after that air volume pushing the piston forward down the tube runs out, this will quickly become vacuum thus stopping the piston’s travel). When this happens the torpedo keeps traveling forwards out the tube and the piston stops.
