Like this? BLM is downstream from MMS, before the ESC.

I’m used to using the BEC from the ESC. Since I’m not going that way and using a separate BEC, how does this get wired in? And I need to remove a lead from the ESC going into the receiver.
Looked at David’s pic on page 1 and did not see a BEC there.

That's what I thought. If that ESC-Rec wire is disconnected I guess the 5v is getting to the rec thru the BLM?
In that last pic you posted there’s a capacitor on the motor. Are they incorporated into the motor or not?
This look right on all counts?

Working on two models at the same time. Two things I'm working on on the SJ, the first is going to make the torpedo doors work. Filed out the lower two so far. There's a bevel on the inside for them to meet-seal. The first set of doors I made from Euro-Soft. I canned those and made a second set from layered styrene. Once the matching bevel was done on the doors I attacked the outside to contour the door shape to the hull and added a backing piece. Next need to work on the upper doors. Not going to touch the middle doors. Once this is done have to figure out how to hinge them, then make links to open-close them.

Second thing. Making a second top to the sail. Layered some styrene and rough cut to shape. The original one will have all the doohickey things sticking up. The second one will have probably nothing. They will be held on by magnets and some other locking mechanism. Underneath them might be something, but not sure what just yet. I like adding gadgets to my models.

Ken,
It is great to see you at this again! Already you are doing cool things. I like the idea of building a second top for the sail.
This will be a fun thread. If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.Comment

Years ago I built the Marlin that I got from my friend Skip. I thought at that time that it would be my only submarine. Besides the party boat I am scratch building I'm also working on the Skipjack. And now for Christmas my lovely girlfriend got me the Bronco XXIII. I have much work to do to finish the party boat and the Skipjack before I get to the XXIII. Looking forward to getting all three models done. And hopefully we get to meet at Groton in 2021!

I'm sorry, Ken. I was not thinking when you showed off your 1/72 SKIPJACK kit. My recommendation that the SD for that would be a drop-in for the 1/35 Bronco Type-23 was an error. The SD you have is 3.5" diameter, the one you need for the Type-23 is 2.5". E-mail me, maybe I can fix you up.
