OK , so this kinda worries me. They dont want you to put any clear coat on top of the dry transfer decals. WELL HELLO! How else are you going to protect them?? The customer service of Scale Ships is SOOOO poor, youll never be able to get anymore, thats for sure. So Im going to do an experiment first by transfering some that Im not going to use on a test piece and spray some Minwax Spar Urethane on top of it and see what happens.

This drawing shows the rescue bouy marker. Ill have to make one of these. Ill start with a plastic washer at 3/4" dia. Then ill apply some two part stiff apoxy to the top of it , than shape and sand it down to shape. Unless somebody has one already????????..........

So back on this clear coating decal thing. Last night, as a test, I took some dry transfers that I wont be using and I applied them. Then I took my Minwax Spar Urethane that I plan on using and coated it. No reaction was seen. After 12 hrs. of drying time they look good. So it looks good. I have found all the colors and materials that I need to get this thing painted, decalled and clear coated. Life is good.....................sometimes.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Here are some examples of the bouy marker that I am trying to reproduce.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

The emblem on the front of the sail on my dry transfer sheet is white. From these pictures it becomes apparent that I will have to paint a rectangle of red on my sail before I transfer the white decal. This looks like a job for Mr. Airbrush! I hope that I can find it.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

I finished all the scupper grilles last night and all the Bondo sanding. Now the next steps will be to re-establish the line between the upper black painted areas and the lower red painted areas. This line on the bow is gone because of bondoing the seam and sanding. I will use my laser projector to show me the line and then ill mark it with a pencil so that I can mask a correct line.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

In this picture, if you look in the bridge opening of the sail , you can see a large diameter tubelike structure with a hatch on it. Thats the hatch that goes down thru the sail.

And here is the drawings detail of it and the bridge detail.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

So then here is my rendering. The hatch shaft I made from brass tubing , 1/4" dia. and a Bic pen stub. The hatch itself came from the brass detail parts supplied.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Of course the bridge internals will get some more putty and sanding to make it ready for paint. The hole you see in the floor of the bridge is for the forward periscope.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

This is the rear of the sail where it joins the deck and you can see how the bondo has shrunk leaving a gap. To address this I did the same thing again with taping down to the deck a piece of freezer paper and applying Metal Glaze to it and "Smooshing" it down on to the hull on premarked lines. Here you can see the results.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment
