On the far side of the red and white marker buoy you can see that little doodad that I was talking about. It has been suggested that its an armored light with a wire cage protecting it. Im going to make one of those. Although this picture is not of an Oscar, I believe that the doodad is the same. Any Thoughts?Click image for larger version

likely a transducer -- I would put my money on it being a BQC type, underwater-telephone. It's proximity to the marker-buoy is my clue here. But, as usual, I could be wrong.

Not to be outdone, the Oscar will also get the Sombra treatment. Since the Caswell/Mcleod ADF will not work with the Sombra, I also bought a ADF2 Pitch controller that will work with it.

Who says the ADF will not work with the Sombra receivers, Mark? I got eight SD's that say otherwise. Five of them put on a flawless ten-hour show over the weekend.

Its the particular version of the ADF that I have, one of the early models. Kevin told me that if I mailed it to him he would update it for me.

Dave , take a look at this thread on the problems between the ADF and the Sombra.

I know this has been dead for a while but would it be possible to build an Oscar with working missile doors?

Kevin McLeod's 1/96 OSCAR class model not only does that, but fires missiles from underwater as well.

                          Yes, Kevin is our overachiever.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Kevin's not an overachiever, he's an average achiever with an excess of bad ideas and stubbornness!

I did a build thread for the construction of my masters and molds on the SubCommittee website, but I found I didn't have enough time to built and report while trying to get ready for the Regatta that year. I went with "finish build as fast as possible to have something in the water".

I do have plenty of photos, I'm on the road 'till the end of the week but once I'm home I'll post a bunch of pics.
