Linear output on radial servo

Strange idea, why rotate linkage when the servo can be rotated. The idea came to me the other night to hinge the servo to rotate around the linkage. I don't know where the idea came from, I am a fan of antique steam and diesel engines and maybe seen the concept there.

I may have had the idea before but didn't have the means to make it work.

Video of them working? I feel that the whole servo will just swing if the controls shafts encounter some resistance.

Right. Actio=re-actio. You need a soldid servo mount and an excenter lever between horn and rod

I'm not set up to do video, I tried.

Does work, no lost motion, very solid servo mount, probably won't work with long rod like when using a bellows. Just keep pivot point in line with rod and the hinge as long as possible. Any way it's free to try.

I'm not understanding the swiveling servo idea. They'll just swivel back and forth, leaving the shaft in place, will they not.

The best most elegant solution was these on my Will Oudmeyer WTC. Sadly, these linear servos are no longer available. The designer died or stopped producing decades ago. It was a disk with a thin wire wrapped around the disk's circumference. But maybe someone could make new ones using same principle. The also perform in less space too. Orange color also made then easy to see operating.
