Looking for places to buy large scale subs i.e. 1/48

Hello friends, most of you have been doing this for a long time and probably have your stores or online shops where you purchase your Sub model kits, yes, I know a lot of you are 3d printing, for me that will come later. I have a 250 cylinder from Bob and one of the models I was looking for is 1/48 German U-Boat Type VII and I have only found one on Ebay for $378 I was hoping to find a hobby company or online or around NJ to look around and see some of the bigger subs, this will be my first RC sub build so i do not want to try from scratch. If anyone has other suggestions for my first sub feel free to chime it. Thank you all

If that was the 1/48 Arkmodel Type VII, that wasn’t a bad price. Bob used to sell this kit; I’m not sure that he still does, though.

Alucard, I'm in Lakewood NJ. Where are you? My 250 cylinder just arrived Saturday from Jason for a Bronco XXIII.

Goshawk823. I have been checking on what he has a lot of stuff currently is out of stock, probably due to his upcoming downsizing move.

Yep on the XXIII. So I have two boats, the Marlin with a 2.5 cylinder and the Skipjack with a 3.5 cylinder. If you want to get together and talk boats, just shoot me an IM. Looks like we are about an hour apart.

                Ken,
be sure and do a build log, especially how you plan on doing the top chop. I have one in the box I want to RC.

Why bother? I follow what David does.

Then again, maybe I'll do something better than he does? (I'm going to hear something on that statement!!)

Ark Model Type VII is 1/48th. An injection moulded kit designed to be R/C'd.

If you want to go bigger and favour a GRP hull (tougher) the OTW Type VII is a lovely model.

I have one lone 48th Akmodel kit here that could use a new home. Normal price when I was offering them was $330. I'd honor that. Can ship within 48hours.

Please don't hit me up here. Shoot me an email to bob@nautilusdrydocks.com and I'll generate an invoice for you.

Take a look at my build of the type XXIII: https://forum.rc-sub.com/forum/build...nco-type-xxiii

If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

I have a bunch of bookmarked Type XXIII builds that can be looked at. We are highjacking this thread a bit.

This type of submarine build has been on my bucket list since I first discovered Simon’s offerings from his company 32nd Parallel in the late 80’s. In place of the dream I had in the late 80’s, presently I’ve managed to secure a Bronco type XXIII kit. A 2.5” MSD and most of the bits and pieces of
