David which cutting wheel did you use? Also, I assume a low RPM like 10,000-15,000?

A very thin diamond wheel at maximum speed. The trick is to feed into the work in the direction of the wheels rotation and to make the feed in very short, light of pressure, stabs into the work. Don't try for a cut-through on the first pass. It takes about an hour to make the two longitudinal cuts this way. Take your time; don't rush; don't push; and ensure that the model is very, VERY, VERY secure to the worktable or you'll **** it all up! There is a strip of #100 sandpaper glued to the worktable to keep the models keel from sliding, and the twine retaining straps are sinched down tight and temporarily glued to the top of the hull.

All great advice and nothing I knew of when I started my attempt. :(

Working on a partner for supplying these kits, at least in part. Don't get excited yet and for heaven's sake don't ask me when and how much...

                Yippee!!!

Crossing my fingers the partner works out. But, being a scratch builder, I would be fine without the kit, at least that was my plan anyway.

David, is this plastic stock and what thickness, or does thickness depend on thickness of kerf lost?
