Thanks Bob! Glade your home safe and sound, and I hope your trip went well!
I am turning my Submarine building to more of a pre-world war l time period. I really like the looks of those boats and their historical value as to their precursor to today's modern boats. Reading the histories of those who designed and built the boats of that period is very interesting as well.

I have decided NOT to cut the hull into a top and bottom configuration.
I am leaving the stern section to be used to house the WTC. I will be using a 2.75" OD acrylic tube for the WTC. I do not need a very large cylinder to house the 550 brushed motor and one Hitec standard servo for the rudder, plus the 7.2 NiMH battery.
The WTC will be secured to the stern section and the entire assembly will slide out with the stern section.

I made a little head way as to my design and installation on the propulsion system (no set in stone as of yet)

I took a video of how it might look and it's functionality at this point!

Tonight, I finally got the motor shaft and stern section lined up with the prop! The prop is mounted to the drive shaft with a pin which will allow the shaft to be dismantled from the prop so that if any repairs are required down the road the entire system with the motor will come out.
Next will be to permanently mount the completed drive system to the stern section of the hull. Next part of the stern will be to install the rudder and the control linkage.

Rob, I saw and took a picture of both replicas in Barcelona back in 2006. Boy was impressed, especially with the engineering in II, Keep up the great work!Comment

Thank you for your remarks! The Ictineo ll has been a real challenge from the start. The files for this boat where for a 1/2 cut-a-way static model showing the complete exterior and interior. Sizing the boat up to what I have (168%) and slicing so that I could have a complete hull and have the sections go through my Dremel 3D40 has been a time consuming challenge for sure.
I am really wanting to do more of the pre-WW 2 (1800's/1900's) type boats. I really like the looks of the older boats and there histories and the progression!

I'm not super-familiar with Ictineo... I assume it used ballast alone for depth control? No planes? What are your thoughts for depth and angle-keeping?
Oh, wait... did you say she was a surface runner only? I can't remember.
