You can see three blanked out flat areas on each side of the hull, one near the bow, one midspan and one toward the stern. The Upholders are the only British/Canadian subs to have these.
Here are some models of the Upholder. I believe that they are OTW Hulls. Id love to have one.

There were four Vanguards made. Vanguard, Vengeance, Victorious, Vigilant. They carry 16 Trident D5 missiles. The midsection that houses the Missiles is identical to the US Ohios, except for the smaller numbers of missiles on the Vanguard, 16 compared to 20.
They are powered by a single Rolls Royce PWR2 reactor rated at 27,500 HP.
The Vanguard herself was launched on March 4th 1992. Much of the machinery, especially the engine room, is automated. Because of the size of the missiles(13 meters) the boats have four decks. Compared to the diesel boats there galleys are palatial. Crew comfort is some of the best available.

To complete this thread we need to present the newest British sub to enter service............Astute.
Designed to replace the Swiftsure class immediately and the Trafalgar class eventually she is 30% larger and 1/5th faster than the Trafalgar. She can fire the Spearfish as well as the Harpoon and Tomahawk. Equipped with the latest sensors and upgraded nuclear reactor technology it is expected that she will never need refueling in her projected service life.
A total of five have been planed but only three have been named. They are Astute S23, Artful S22, and Ambush S21. The three British company's BAE(previously Vickers) and VSEL and finally GEC are now owned by the same company and are involved in the project. The construction is taking place at Barrows.

No need to guess, I says in the post it is 1/96th scale.
Although a small scale, the Astute is quite a big boat, so the model should be a tad over 40" long- a good size for the back seat of the car.Comment
