Mike, Nice drawings. Those are for the WW1 version. The ones that I am referring to were the later classes built in 1943 and on.

      T class
In the 1935 London Naval treaty, Great britain was limited to 15,500 ton submarine tonnage. This limited the size of her submarines.
The T class were the first British submarines to put their fuel tanks within the pressure hull. This along with welding, stopped the persistant fuel tank leaks that used to give away their presence.
The first batch of the T class submarines had two(2) tubes amidships firing forward. On the second and third batches those tubes were moved further back and redirected to fire at an angle to the rear. The Bulbous bows that housed the two external tubes were streamlined to reduce the wake which caused periscope visibility problems. As a consequence of that the rear of the tubes could be seen sticking out either side of the bow. Third batch statistics: 273 ft. 5.75" long ,26 ft. 6" beam , 15.25 knots surfaced and 8.75 knots under. Eleven(11) Torpedo tubes of which eight(8) were in the bow and three (3) in the stern. Of those five(5) were external. She packed quite a load. Fifty nine(59) were built Keep in mind that some of these pictures are of boats that have been modified post war..Click image for larger version

I am having trouble editing these posts with the new format, the old format was much easier. At any rate , if you look above at the second picture you can see the forward firing torped tubes(external) under the conning tower. The forth picture is of an A class and a T class. The T class is on the Right.

Much like their aircraft, same with their subs, the Brits could take a mud fence and make it uglier....

HMS Torbay is the sub pictured at the top of this page. I find British sub design busy and refreshing. They offer originality and a different way to design a mouse trap. If all submarines looked like a Los Angelos class, what a boring hobby this could be.

I'm just seeing a ton of really great pics and although you may not be modeling the exact sub that is depicted, there is great info there on sub dynamics, coloration, etc.
