Designated scale would be 1/35 .... about 55 cm in length. Would be a nice RC size. But before that ... SM U1. After the Type II with interior I'll get the U1 going.

Something I really don't like....designing the linkages. But it turned out good.

More bits and pieces....I added the drive for the exhaust box (the one with the red wheel). All the exhaust lines of the four cylinder Otto motor ran into a single box, from which the exhaust gases were expelled. The box had a water-tight lid, that could be opened and closed, an early variant of a modern exhaust main valve. The actuation of the lid was driven by a push rod that was moved by a thread rod driven by a bevel gear that was actuated by the red hand wheel.

Were there any kind of covers around the gears or were they open to the inner space? I presume one could easily get ones fi gers or clothing cought...
