I just got a mystery box with a completed HUNLEY within it. Slightly damages, but otherwise in fine condition. Came from Ron LiButti. I have no idea why I got this. Anyone know anything about this?
The only reason airplanes are hanging on like they are is because of RTF's and ARF's. Building isn't anywhere near as common as it used to be, I guess nobody feels like they have the time for it. And there is some draw to being able to buy, out of a box, a very scale, detailed, reasonablly priced, working gear, well painted foam model of your favorite warbird, ready to fly, just throw in a battery and add some (hopefully!) skill and hit the friendly skies. And if they're not so friendly, parts are available, and not expensive. Oh, and did I mention the autopilots, that will just about fly your shiny new airplane for you? Yeah, it's keeping the hobby "alive", if you can call it that. I hope that dosen't happen to subs.... it's something not everybody can do, or has the patience or skill to do.

Don’t trust it! Send it here and I’ll look after it! Better safe, right?
Out of nowhere I received this reasonably good r/c model of the Confederate blockade-buster, HUNLEY. A bit damaged in shipment, but salvageable. I have no idea why it was sent to me, but I do tend to be a magnet for this sort of good stuff.
Back to the usual production work. Here's I'm installing brushless motors into motor-bulkheads.
That Hunley looks alot like the one you were commissioned to build in Simply Submarines.
Yeah, partially based on the flawed James McClintock drawings prepared several years post incident.
At the time it was the best reference we had to work from -- that model was started by an excellent model-builder, Steve Reichmuth and was finished and made operational by me.
I just found out that this model was sent to me to be upgraded for the owner, Kim Sleep. Whew!... almost screwed up. It's not my place to dispose of other persons property without their consent.
This is how that submarine looks as I got it. Some damage at the stern due to poor packaging/handling.
