Zincs seem likely to be related to the non-magnetic steel, since that's one of the special features of the boat. The zincs seem both fresh and plentiful--they must order by the bushel. I didn't notice so many zincs on the 214s, which use different steel for their hulls than the 212s use.

The upper deck of spanish - built SCORPENEs is also made up of GRP. As the shipyard that builds them also build patrol boats, I had the chance of visiting the specific factory hut where they are born; very interesting tour. I posted some pics of the CARRERA sailing for sea trials and have received some informations from fellows at Spanish Navy about chileans are very very happy with their performances so ... seems that she works.Comment

A neat picture showing where the openning of the hull in a model of this pretty girl will be. Isn't it? Pump jet seems to be quite large in length. And what about rudder, where is it? Or are those two vertical flaps on rear planes?

A nice view of a PUFFS antenna. Is that a correct way to put it?IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Hydrophone fairing.
Accepted nomenclature is: If the wave is in the radio frequency portion of the spectrum then the emanating and receiving element is an, 'antenna'. If the wave is in the sonic portion of the spectrum, then the emanating element is a 'transducer' and the receiving element is either a transducer or a 'hydrophone'.
Hydrophones only receive, they do not transmit.
The PUFFS element above is a hydrophone embodied within a streamlined fairing. These are often miss-represented as transducers.
PUFFS is a passive system used for bearing and ranging of a target -- it employs noise phase relationships and target motion analysis to derive pretty good target position information.
What are we looking at here, Mark, a museum boat? Betcha it's a GUPPY-3.
