Correction from the peanut gallery: This one's a Delta IV, not III. Only the Delta IV has the torpedo loading hatches down the center of the bow where all previous models have a sonar window there.
Great photos Mark, keep 'em coming!Kevin McLeod - Oscar II driver

Kevin, You are the man who knows for sure. Is it possible that there might be an exception?http://www.rusarmy.com/ Go to this site. In the upper right click on English. Then go to the far left and click on Navy. Scroll down toward the bottom and you will see three choices to select. Select the Delta 3. Either that site made a mistake or perhaps a modification was made? What do you think???IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

What are those deelybobs sticking up out of the bow there of this Song class? Perhaps its a copy of the Russian deelybobs that are sticking out of the Akulas sail?IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

I'm suspicious it's just a mistake. (I've often seen the Delta III and IV mixed up in photo credits on the net.) Have a look at the attached photo - this is what the bow of a Delta III looks like - the upper part is pointy like the other early Delta's and Yankee's, and there's no place for a torpedo door because of the sonar array.
A mod is always a possibility, but I doubt it - beyond removing the sonar array they would also have had to completely reshape the bow to that broad blunt end that's so characteristic of the Delta IV. Another clue for me is the width of the center two bridge windows on the sail - they're much wider on the IV than what they are on the III. Again, compare this photo to the ones above and I think you'll agree that what's suggested to be a Delta III is really a mis-labeled Delta IV.Kevin McLeod - Oscar II driver
