I thought it was a U class as well but it turns out to be the French sub Curie

She was a U class boat. Formerly HMS Vox, given to the Frogs in 1943. The upper photo (complete with scowling Froggy crew members) is the U Class Curie. The lower photograph is an entirely different boat; its the WWI Curie.
