The canal is filling, but probably unintentionally as we have had a lot of rain in the past few days. Will the canal authorities let the water out? Who knows!Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!Comment

Lawn-chair, PVC pipe, Lawn-Mower engine. Looks like an episode of Crocodile Hunters, for Christ's sake!
Now, if you had that kid chewing a wad of Red-Man, with the Tobacco slurp running down his fact, the picture would have been complete!
Mike, you Hick!Who is John Galt?Comment

Nice! Unfortunately in most states you'd be served with at least 3 citations & that doesn't include Boating Under The Influence which is surely going to be brought up by FWC officers once they saw one of those skimming across the water!
PS - I can get you a nice SUP if you want to do some proper paddling on the canal.Comment

My latest update on my raft projects
After reasonable success with our 14' 4" pipe raft, I decided to do the real Chinese River Raft at 28' long.
I bought a special snake coil to go inside the pipes so I could bend them without buckling them, but it was not as good as I hoped and I abandoned the idea for a small hot air gun.
The result is here---
Several bends in the bow section
Bending the pipes using hot air
The finished bend, raising the bow about 18"
The chairs --
More to come ----Last edited by Kazzer; 07-10-2013, 05:27 PM.Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!Comment

Yesterday, we launched the 28' raft. Of course, it's very heavy, so we just placed plastic pipes under it and then gave it a danged good shove.
Well! We got her going, but after about ten minutes, our little 6hp Harborfreight motor overheated and quit. We limped home and resolved to get a 15hp engine.
In the meantoime, the canopy and seats need to be installed, and I have to make a plate to go under the bow, to make it plane up, rather than plow through the water.
It's pure fun!Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!Comment
