I understand and meant no "klugscheissing". You see, I myself am putting lots of effort into getting specs from pictures for my projects in lack of proper plans, best example Pr.665.You are putting so much into fine detailing and those few spots cought my attention.
when i look at your model, the magazine drum looks too small in diameter compared to the pics. The handwheel as well. The shoulder mounts might be less "C" shaped on the lower end. There is that small crank missing on the front of the spindle-cylinder of the gun mount.
only my opinion, meant no critizism. You work is outstanding, Dr.!

        Sweet. Could be your masterpiece.
Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.

That thing is going to be printed 1/72 scale. 20 mm in real burns donw to 0,27 mm printed. So there are linits to what goes on a given piece. You will also notice, that I thickened allot of the metal sheet work to make it printable. And what you call a hand crank is the fixture that holds the gun vertical when attached.

Yes. Again, a great piece of art. Having a lot background about old weapon tech, i care about such things. Understood, the subject is the vessel!

For sure...I'm not interested in firearms at all.

The main parts of the boat finally are coming together. I glued the conning tower into place, and voila, looks like a submarine. You may notice the white line at the base of the conning tower. Well, that's a deviation from being in scale. Under the tower the boat is single hull. Including the interior for me means, that I have to put a pressure hull inside the outer hull of the kit and on top of it the pressure cylinder of the conning tower. So I have about 1mm outer hull 2 x 0,5 mm inner hull and then about 0,5 mm floor thickness of the pressure cylinder. In total that put me about 2,5 mm too high which I had to compensate by adding styrene sheet material....A bit annoying, but it won't be visible after painting

                  Hey Dr.
I know enough about 3-D printing to put in a thimble. So, can you go on a real boat, take pictures, and convert those pictures into a 3-D print? If this has already been covered, I am unaware of it.

I don't think that'd work, as a photo or a laserscanner could not capture the complete geometry of the parts, as the stuff in the "shadow" is hidden.

And then you have to take it around every hose, every cylinder, every box etc. to get the full shape information.

Agreed. Btw, scanning objects with a 3D-scanner is not THAT simple. It takes time and training. Building it in CAD is mote efficient unless you are scanning ONE object for ONE job.
