I simply gotta build one of these ugly, ugly, boats. What beauties!

looking at these is like picking at a scab. Did you see my post on the possible reason for the hump. Apparently they are also having trouble with the new type periscope thing.

Yep, well, its kinda like looking at all the Russian Submarines and the Italian ones too. The Diversity is what grabs your interest. Imagine if all the submarines looked like a Los Angelos. Dave would have packed up his bags a long time ago and moved on to building Tanks!

True Mark, very true. It isn't that I do not like looking but it is ugly. I think Dave was right when he said that the designers must have received an Etch-a-sketch each for Christmas. It is such an odd design, smacks a little of compromises being made.

Personally I love its bow, it looks as though it could muscle thru any Russian boat but the rest of it ................and the Vanguard..............needs a different sail. LOVE the Conquerer though, sleek and slick!

                  Peter,

Sorry, this is definately not Revenge, by looking at this boats fin it is either Resolution or Renown, in fact I am more to believe it is Resolution. Revenge finished service long before these boats were fitted with tiles

                    Rob,

Thank you for the correction, I could only go by the attached caption. This picture is only 1 of 4 or 5 I have ever seen of this class out of the water.

                    Peter.

                      Hello Peter,

No worries, thanks for the photo its a good one. Spent the day on Renown while she was under sailing orders and later Repusle. Would be nice though to see them out of the water if you have some more.

                      Best of Wishes

                      Rob

Here's some rather interesting photos I found on my quest for Dreadnought information (still ongoing- it's torturous).

A model that splits down the centreline. Notice how the 'American sector' Skipjack rear end after 'Checkpoint Charlie' is blacked out. Only the British engineered details can be seen. Also notice the Skipjack stern planes, but very different shape of the rudders, presumably the latter was to deal with the different handling characteristics of Dreadnoughts smaller sail, and slightly longer hull. propeller looks very different to Skipjack, although still five-blade. I have been told the Dreadnought had several different props though.

What an attractive design. I never did agree with that "American sector" and "British sector" thing. Your either allies or your not.

The otherday "Hermill" provided a link to a site that reproduces submarine designs using CAD or something like it. They look pretty good to me so Im going to post some of them.Click image for larger version

OOOPPPSS! Forgot this one. That rudder looks as though it turns almost a full 90 degrees.
