I would say none by now. That was takin in the late 30s so the young ones would be over 90. The percent of all DKM U boat arm sailors that survived the war dictates maby 2 or 3 out of that group.

Or if that boat went down, all of them were lost.

U 12 left on patrol 23 Sep 1939 and was declaired lost on the 8th of october. Persumed sunk by a mine. All hands lost. I would guess thats the crew since there were only two war patrols listed for that boat.

Kinda makes you stop and think doesnt it. I love looking at old pictures because its time frozen in place for your inspection of past events. You then wonder about the familys they left behind and all the " What Ifs". What if Hitler never came to power and all the enemys that resulted from WW2 were never created?

notice the WWI "Dohboy" helmet on the target with bell bottoms. The shooter is an enlisted man, who normally arnt issued side arms. Also the pistol isnt a Walther or a Luger. Looks to be a John Browning design like a 1911 .45 or a Model 39 9mm.hi power. He may not be a crewman of the boat but a passenger on a covert operation. 177 was one of the boats that came over during Polkinschlag. Sank a bunch of ships in the Gulf of Mexico. Several of the boats that came to the US, dropped of spys along the coast.

Blohm und Voss BV138 was a reconnaissance floatplane used for convoy patrol in assistance with the U Boats and the Fokcke Wulf Condor aircraft. They frequently had rondezvous with the boats. Sometimes supplies were delivered as well as transfer of sick or wounded crewmen. But primarily an anti shipping airplane. Armed with 2 20mm cannons, 2 7mm machine guns 3 to 6, 50kg bombs and 4 150kg depth charges
