Another incredible event put on by Nautilus Drydocks, members, and volunteers. The event had a ton of new people and was at times pretty crowded in the pavilions, Met a ton of new people that are planning to join our group. We had 3 awesome days of driving with some rain starting Friday night and Saturday was a blow out, so we did other things. The water clarity, as it was the beginning of the season was very clear and some great underwater videos are forth-coming. I downloaded about 23 g's to Ken and I think Bob said he had a total of around 80 g's of material, so for those that didn't make it, video is coming. There were also interviews done so you'll see a lot of new faces. Being at the beginning of the season, there were a lot of benefits not only in water clarity, but in service from the facilities as they are gearing up for the season, and not about to shut down for the season. To me, it's a benefit moving to this side of the season as you hit the Spring dry season, the Fall has one, but down South you're playing roulette with the hurricane season of September and October. Anyway, lots of engineering marvels to see. Wonderful Vaughn was totally in your face with his torpedo and Seehund, but if you didn't catch this one very quiet character named Kirk and his mechanical torpedo and Type VII, you really missed something...or you didn't get your brain melted :) Everyone else had a slew of over the top great stuff. There were two sharks there this time and made it even better. My Nautilus ran great, but...got stuck down in the bottom of the pool in the weeds. Luckily, our resident underwater hero Nathan sprung into action and saved it. I'm still digesting it all. Here's some photos of each day. I took a lot of video and gave those also to Ken. Every time I turned around I thought about getting some more for the people who can't attend. I wish these events were twice a year. Great place, great people, and awesome facility.

Thank David,
I am one of those where health issues keeps me from attending these wonderful submarine events, and i am sure there may be others in the same boat.(no pun intended)
So a great big shout out to you David and the others that have taken the time and energy to put together some really great photos and videos of this event for all of us to enjoy!
Thanks again!!

Thanks for the pictures folks. I was hoping to attend but medical issues with my co-driver unfortunately prevented the trip. KhimComment

Ditto, it is great to see the photos and David being a nuisance chasing others around. Look forward to the videos, either uncut or trimmed up nicely. It looked like a great time.If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.Comment

For those looking over our shoulder: Andy, years ago, provided me this custom-built, tear-drop streamlined little 808 camera waterproof housing. His little unit has permitted me to do those incredible towed shots. I also fix the body atop a model submarine hull as you can see in some of the videos.
Thanks, Andy!!

A short teaser video. Originally posted on Instagram which limits video to 1 minute. I also posted this on Youtube, just for David.

Worked out fine.
Just one example of all the behind the scenes damage control Bob and his people did to keep things on track.Who is John Galt?Comment
