    1/144 Revell Germany Type 214

I'm building a 1:144 Revell U-214. I'd like to make it into an RC sub. I've already sorted out the hull separation and made the cuts.

The two photos show the hull after it was cut at what looks to be the waterline.

The copper rod shows where the control axes should go. Controls will probably work a lot like those on the 1:144 Trumpeter Kilo. The way I separated the hull, there ought to be plenty of room for the forward dive plane linkages.

Looks like there's plenty of room for the small SubDriver to fit in here, even with a ballast system.

    Toys!? .... HARRUMPH! Bah, Humbug!

Just received two of the 1/144 Revell Type-214 kits. I'm going to convert those things to r/c. The usual treatment: A fittings kit to augment the Revell kit, and a dedicated 1.25" SD for the thing WITH a ballast sub-system!

    Stay tuned, sports fans.

      Revell Germany Type 214

This thread is for those interested in building the 1:144 Revell Germany Type 214. The Type 214 is an export sub, designed as a replacement for the Type 209. Incorporating some of the features of the more advanced Type 212, the Type 214 is a formidable weapons system when operated as intended. The Type 214 uses diesel propulsion for surfaced and snorkel operations. Its air-independent propulsion (AIP) system uses hydrogen fuel cells proprietary to Siemens called Polymer Electrolyte Modules (PEM) .

        Hello together,

I´d like to ask if you are ready with your U-boat and maybe you can post some new pictures and explain your conversion.

        Yours sincerely Severin

Yes, David I've stayed tuned, but good thing I haven't held my breadth. I have the 212, 214, Gato and type VII all waiting for your 1.25 fittings kits and subdrivers! Tell Mike to give you the purchase orders or I'll sen one of my sub's to sink his pontoon boat!

          Regards,

          Myron

I share you angst here, Myron. Right now I'm knee deep in getting ready for the expected 1/72 SKIPJACK SD and fittings kit sales. Further work on the 1.25" SD is in the rotation.

but a 1/144 Gato SD? oh hell yes I've got a poor little 1/144 gato partially assembled that I keep staring at wondering what to do with it...

214 might be fun too.... wonder how many more subs before Dave stops talking too me :D

                      Gary,
what are the dimensions in the model's hull?
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

                        It will fit inside easily.

                          Thanks, Subculture!! Pretty stoked now!!

                          Thanks for your reply, Trout!
Haven't received the kit yet, so have no clue as to inside dimensions, but rather
"assumed" they would be close to the 212 or 214!!??

Merry Christmas to all my fellow sub nuts!!
May the good Lord keep ya warm and safe!

All this reminds me to finish a long overdue build-up of a 1/114 Type 214

Just checked with a friend who has a Revell Typ206A and there's no way in h*&% a 1 1/4" SD will fit in it!! A piece of 1" tubing is about max!
So, when my kit gets to me, looks like my grandson will have somehing to build!! Hah!!
                              I'll be ordering a 214 pretty soon!

BTW, Dave!! Your's is looking great!! ( As expected!!) Be nice to see her in the water!!
