G'day, Bruce!!

Am thoroughly enjoying your progress! Great stuff!!

Just wanted to ask what, exactly, is the function of the "shock absorber" you made mention of!!
(O.K.! I know it's to absorb shock, M; duh!)

Is that the part which appears to have some sort of spring loaded plunger integrated into it??
Also, does it function, as well, as a means of securing the SD within the hull??
Very interesting concept!!

Any input would be most appreciated!

Yes, it both indexes the SD within the fragile plastic hull; and provides the means to spread a velocity induced load over time in the event the idiot Driver runs his styrene plastic model submarine into something hard.

Yes, it's that 'springy' thing.

Since the last post I have been plugging away working on the sail

(and some foam parts (Armoured conning tower, fwd tower/funnel and aft funnel) for my club mates BB63 I flowcoated em' on the 23rd...didn't put enough catalyst in! Still tacky on 30th! I wiped off the unset goo and tried again all fixed!!.....insert sigh of relief!!)

Anyhoo... the sail is assembled and painted, except for the top which is still to be painted as I could not decide how many mast to have up! I will have the two periscopes on some sort of float.....drilled out the two holes and inserted some evergreen tube. Using some aluminum 1/8 tube for the scopes the kit part was chopped down then got my house mate to heat the ally tube with his lighter and pushed the top part of the scope into the heated tube. Have fillered the stuff that wont be fitted.

PS : was looking at the SD and noticed this hole in ballast tank next to the main ballast flood holes....?? Is it supposed to be there??

Access for the Allen wrench should you wish to retro-fit a gas type ballast sub-system.

Yes. That is a hole for your tool to get to a set screw I believe.

have begun assembly of the SD.... I was wondering if there is supposed to be a renshape plug for the hole in the center of the battery end cap? If not what is recommended for the hole?

The hole is for the waterproof, booted, toggle switch, I think.

I have spent the afternoon wiring up the main power cables, installed servo's last night....just need to get some fresh double sided tape tomorrow (old stuff ain't sticky on one side....not much use!).
