Well it looks like Mamas uses a slightly different technique to me. What I do is bulk out with polurethane foam, glass over with matt and resin, then fill over that. So I use a thinner coat, which equals less shrinkage. But I find if you go over a thick coat of filler with a thinner skim after the first layer has cured, that usually deals with any shrinkage or 'sink'.
In this case the shrinkage is not going to be a problem as I'm building this model without a size reference so far. To Clarify, When I'm happy with the hull sections the shape and the mating of them I will take measurements and determine what scale it is then build everything around it to that scale. At the moment its just a case of getting the shape right, I'm aiming for 32 inches in total length. To be honest this is the first time I have ever started a build without a firm scale to work too and this as I said in the first post was to seperate this build from any others out there.
Likely not much new to you, but maybe the color demarcation lines -- that might be useful when you get to the finish color masking chore. And the old cut-away from both an Annual and a fan produced piece (Theo, maybe?). And a copy of the venerable Phil Rae plans.
Its all good, Who did the Masks just out of interest? I'm coming along with it at the moment, just having a spot of lunch. Ill get it to a point and take some shots and post tonight. Then as I'm off tommorrow I will make a start on the upper raised section.
Had a bit of time off today so I went at it, The top layer needs softening a bit but other than that I'm quite happy with how its turning out, the white bits are the torpedo "tubes" which will be placed in holes that I will cut out.
