Yes, quality stuff, Bernie (may I call you Bernie?). You're giving me absolutely no excuse to 'wing it' when it comes time to appoint the STINGRAY's interior. Gee .... thanks!
Now you got my brain in gear -- I went to bed tonight working out the pleated paneling and furniature.
Geez! ... like I don't have enough on my plate already!
You two are shoveling sugar-treats into the puss of a willing diabetic. Pure meaness!

Look what I found on eBay in the USA, Item no:400314242707 (other online auction services are available)
Embossed upholstery Vinyl, looks spot on as Stingray wallpaper to me, given a lick of pillar box red acrylic paint. I have seen similar materials with a square pattern but this has the correct diamond outline. If they use it to make car upholstery then the material must still be made with stock available, perhaps even in the correct colour. I also noticed that they used the pattern in both horizontal and vertical orientations, look at the wall in the last picture below.
I can't provide proof just yet but I am certain the green shades in the windows were bamboo dinner place mats. Most of the kitchen equipment bought as set decoration came from a branch of Woolworths department stores in Slough very close to the AP film studios. One of my forum members worked at the branch during the Century21 heyday in the late sixties to mid seventies and gave us a potted history. So I am trawling through old catalogues and reference material that still exists trying to find them and anything else that maybe useful.
What do you think? It's a good match to my eye but I can't judge the scale from the Ebay image.
Another detail I have noticed is the use of drawer pulls to make features in the puppet set, there is a row of nine of them just in front of Troy & Phones feet lined up like rungs in a ladder. I think Reg Hill was responsible for a lot of the set work back then, the guy was a genius at making something out of everyday objects. He had an eye for adding "value" with chrome bezels, ash trays, tops from glue and paint tubes and parts from old radio cases.
David: Of course you can call me Bernie, no problem at all.Building Gerry Anderson Studio Scale replicas at www.eagletransporter.comComment

A few interior shots one which is devoid of all the furniture which is handy:

I also found this on my travels, a member of my forum noticed that the Stingray control steering wheels came from the Deluxe Reading Playmobile Dashboard toy made in the 1960's. Rare and difficult to find here in the UK but easier in the USA. Look at the control bank behind Marina and you will see a cut up version of the toy acting as equipment, nothing was wasted at Century21 Studios... LOL

Oh, man! Can't wait!
Love how you incorporated the aileron (that's what I'll call them) bell-cranks in with the mounting hardware of the PJ base. You think like a watch-maker Moti (see: The Mote In God's eye); you incorporate several functions in a single item -- solid, intuitive engineering. They don't teach that **** in school!
And having a dedicated linkage for each aileron means we can work them through a V-tail mixer: differentially for roll, collectively for fine depth control. As these things are so close to the vehicles CG their pitching component will me so small as to not matter. They will work great at fine depth control (I've done this with a 1/16 KAIRYU model). We'll be able to cruise submerged, at reasonable speed and hold periscope depth without too much work.
Here's how I see the r/c system arranged on your STINGRAY:
ch-1 roll (differential aileron)
ch-2 fine depth control (collective aileron)
ch-3 throttle
ch-4 nozzle yaw axis (rudder)
ch-5 ballast sub-system
ch-6 nozzle pitch axis (course depth change)
We mix ch-1 and ch-2 with a V-tail mixer off the receiver. Also, if the boat is too squirrely in pitch we may swap ch-2 and ch-6.Who is John Galt?Comment

Well thats about all I can do for now untill the WTC is ready, I did some measuring and the gap that the cabin sits it is a tad over 3 and a half inches and the depth is well over that so it all seems good. I will do the rest of the bits tomorrow and send it to Bernie on Wednesday to forward to you. You will get the new Vacform Cabin with this one. As thats what all the kits will now come with. I look forward to watching you work your magic.Comment
