No internet at my work computer for over a week now, I had to steal someone elses terminal for a few minutes to get this update in. I assembled the dual props and shafts and locked them down. They are ready to go. Finishing up on the observation dome. I will have a picture of it next time. Youll notice that in the second picture that the flash artificially lightens up the dark grey hull but I included it to show the contrast with the color of the props, Dark Bronze.

Oh, man! ... you went for the ten-foot disc separation. I love that. Get it wet, NOW!

It does look good... Now please excuse my novice-heathan knowledge but why have two props on the same shaft/drive chain? How is effective especialy as the fartherist one is smaller?
          Cheers,
          Alec.

The after screw recovers the swirl energy (translating it to axial flow) from the forward screw; less turbulent wake (tough for wake-homing torpedoes) and sonar detection; Torque is taken out of the ship-control problem; and this type propulsor is tougher to classify with passive sonar (though computers have pretty much resolved that situation).

The second prop is usually smaller and with less blades because it operates more efficiently than the forward prop. Modern UK boats tend to get round the torque roll problem by incorporating a shroud with fixed stators.

Thursday night I finished painting the center frame going up thru the middle of the observation dome. Ill get some pictures up Monday. Masking the sail a hundred times with regular masking tape caused some of the filler to come off of the sail rudder. Thatll take a couple of days to get straightened out. What I learned from that is to use Blue masking tape in the future. Its bite is not so aggresive. Then all thats left is flattening the finish. Then its on to the reconfiguring of the old 3" subdriver to power this thing.

As good as my word. Here are the photos of the finished plexiglass windows and their metal frames. As soon as the clear flat is applied, it will tone down the bright metalic silver. Oh yes, also one of the sail rudder repair due to overly sticky masking tape..Click image for larger version

Whats left? Quite a bit actually. I have been stalled for the past couple of weeks. You see, I got some overspray on the sail. Which means that I have to lightly sand the sail, tape it off, and repaint it. What a hassle. So I have kinda had a mental block over it. I will try to get it done this week. Then we will spray it down with Clear flat. Then its on to the WTC mods.

I just found this the other day. It shows the Marlin. Guess what? Look on top of the sail. THERE IT IS!!! A good shot of the radar mast that was also used on the Albacore. Its a triangular shaped pod. Now I can feel comfortable making the radar mast.Click image for larger version

Today is the day. Ive got the sail masked off and Im going to get the last coat on it today. The sail that is. Then Ill be free to flatten the whole thing. Then that will complete the exterior.

Tonight I flat coated the upper hull. Tommorow , the lower hull will get the same treatment.
