I also gave the stern a coat of grey primer and found only minor faulty areas. Started to bring the bow chin sonar dome into symmetrie. Finally things are moving forward again!

Who made the hull? That mus have been a monster job to make molds for such a big boat. And the casting looks ultra massive...l

Lazar Kerzmann from Düsseldorf. Bob Martin purchased the molds, along with others of his large model kits.

Thick, yes, but with a very thick gelcoat from the outside and only 2-3 layers of weave. His later Akula Kit has much thinner walls with more glass into them.

Never heard of him before. Is he still around? Did he sell hiss kits commercially or just within the community?

What other hulls did Lazar sell?

India, Juliet, Golf, Akula II, Seehund ( am not sure ), SM U-151 Deutschland Submarine Cruiser, a large german SSK (209/212/214 not sure which one).

I have not seen a functional Whiskey Long Bin from him and only know of one finished model as static display,but i must say, that one is mostly stock and lacks many of the details and retains several errors of the kit.
