Mark beautiful work and what a fantastic location.
I notice your wharf sits on the bottom. I have one that floats and is anchored either end. Do you find that your wharf stays put with wash?

The thing that really stands out here is how big that Ocsar is in 1/96 cf a 1/48 Gato.
Huge.
Shame your on the other side of the world Mark. I'd love to sail with you and knock back a couple of beers.
best

Besides the only time THAT club insists you run a 1/72 vessel is day 1 of their regatta.
The 1/96 Ocsar is a great boat, and what I'd call still a BIG model.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys! Oztruck, as far as I know 1/96 is the biggest thats offered. At 63" its a handful to transport and store. I wouldnt want anything bigger. Kevin Mcleod in Canada offers one and it comes with great customer service.
Slats, yes, your company would be great. As far as the dock , it belongs to Al Nuci and it has what looks to be 1"x2" stakes that have been sharpened at the end that pivot at the attachment point just under the dock and you push them down into the sand and its held there at what ever height that you set it. Works great. Some of Al Nucis work can be seen under "links to members albums."Last edited by greenman407; 10-27-2011, 07:16 AM.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

That makes it about 2" longer than my 1/72 Japanese B1. A 1/72 Oscar would be a nice size and I could even fit it out with "NERF" missiles.
I have a 1/48 scale RC HMAS Swan River Class D.E. that I play with John and with a little bit of thinking about how you do things, the size of the boat is nothing. I even had an old Hartley Cabin Cruiser, glass over ply 22 footer that was at least 2 tons of boat that I could get wet all by myself. I am not superman, I am just lazy and make things easy on myself by thinking ahead
I myself think that 1/72 is a very good scale for subs, a bit small for some of the smaller 2 man crew type of subs but I can't see a problem with ANY of the big modern subs in that scale. Of course if you have a problem shouldering and carrying loads you should stay with what you feel comfortable with.
Love your Oscar greenman407 and look forward to your next build, keep up the good work.

Al, I didnt realize it until watching your videos, that I operate her way too fast. I need to slow her down quite a bit. Next time.IT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Just as a side note, the radio problems that I experienced in the sulphur water was while using the Polk 8 channel reciever. Al Nucis boat had fewer radio problems by far. He was using the Sombra labs reciever. Just a little FYIIT TAKES GREAT INTELLIGENCE TO FAKE SUCH STUPIDITY!Comment

Im on vacation this week, cant you tell? Went out to my local submarine test pond here in Clearwater and after some more trimming(Thanks for the lead weight Al) got her just right. Absolutely no radio problems in this water. Problem is driving and taking good video is very difficult. So indulge me patiently. Here are some stills first. Also note that to me video and pictures in darker water seem more realistic, as what is below the waterline is out of sight. Also running a black submarine in darker water makes visibility a worry. But note that all the white decals and masts help you keep her located as long as you stay near the surface..
