Here is a short video taken yesterday at Oscar Scherers State Park. I dont know what all that noise is in the background but the video is descent. Al Nuci uploaded it to Photobucket which I have always had difficulty in linking to the Caswell site. Ill try anyway.http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o...t=100_3469.mp4 GREAT JOB AL!

Did you or someone close have a mobile phone switched on? Sounds like the induced interference you get from them.

Since were in the middle of a drought the sulfer content of the water is higher than normal and interferes readily with operations. Its amazing the difference between the receptive capabilitys of the Polk Seeker recievers and the Sombra SL-8s. My Seaview which has the Polk reciever would lose signal at 15 ft. from the transmitter. Al Nucis Gato which has the Sombra reciever would lose signal at 75 ft. away, quite a difference. We are hopeing that when we get some rain it will dilute the sulfer water and improve things. In the meantime here are some more pictures.

In the above series of pictures we pick up the action where the Seaviews crew has become mutinous after drinking some virus laden water during the last shore leave and they have beached and abandoned her. Capt. Crane is sick with fever in his bunk and Admiral Nelson is in a quandry as to what to do. IS THIS THE END??? NAH! Chief Sharkey and Kowalski will come to their senses soon.

Still learning how to use this camera. Some of the shots are somewhat out of focus. So I put them thru Picasa 3 to improve them but there is only so much that can be done.

Keep in mind that this is not the Moebius seaview. This is a 52" long Rick Teskey hull. It runs off of a special 3" Subdriver and some very interesting Dave Merriman manufactured parts. Parts like the sail which is a work of art and the rudders and planes and the shrouded empellors. It has two speed controls so that I can independantly control right and left drives. With them I can stand still and spin in place to change direction if I please. There is also night lighting. The headlight shines a bright blue and the eight windows light up and emit a more realistic "daylight" color. Then there is the navigation lights on the sides of the sail. Red, green and white. Soon I will do a photo and video shoot of operations in lower lighting showing the dazzling lights while in motion underwater.

Heres a little photo tribute to the TV series. There are a couple of good pictures among them.
A tribute to "The Seaview", the famous atomic submarine from "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea". Maybe the best Sci-Fi TV series of all times.

One thing thats obvious when watching the video on the preceeding page is that the new extended rudder is working well.

As I mentioned before, the right side drive stripped out on the previous days testing before the trip to the Park. I think that youll have to admit that, thats not an every day occurance. What happened? Well If you have been keeping up with my struggles over the past five years to learn and experience this hobby with various boats and on various Forums(Subcommittee), youll recall that I had an overheating problem with the motors on this boat. I tried different motors and replacing the "plastic" motor mount with a machined alluminum one. Also taking a piece of copper pipe and wrapping the motors with it to act as a heat sink. The real solution to the problem was advanced by HWSNBN ,who advised me to turn the 4 bladed empellors into 2 bladed ones. OH what a difference. But in the meantime by my fooling around with the motor mounts I failed to align the mesh of the gears properly. In the fourth picture you can see the right hand drive gear(shown on the left side of the picture). You can see how the very tip ends of the gear teeth are flat spotted, a sure indicator that the gears on that side were just barely touching. To be fair, you cant see inside to align them so you have to go by "feel". So I filled the previous holes in the bearing support plate with epoxy as you can see in the first 2 pictures. Then, after "feeling" for the proper alignment I will redrill the holes.
