    Twin motor 2" Subdriver

    David,
How did you manage to squeeze in 2 280 DC motors into the 2" SD? The 280 motors have an outside diameter of 24mm, so 2 of them side by side is 48mm. Given the walls of the SD to be 1.5mm thick that leaves an nside diameter of 47 mm, a 0.5mm excess both sides.

"All hands rig for depth charge!"

By squeezing the motors in there.

You shouldn't force things in place. Do a mockup, measure, draw first. Helps a lot Click image for larger version

Thanks for the pointers. Never thought of doing that...

              I was referring to Romel.

I'm not planing on doing any forcing. Just asking David how he did it on his existing system after making an observation.

I see. I wrote under the impression you had actually problems with your cylinder construction.

This is a great example of armchair engineering versus practical experience. Until you try, you really just don't know for sure...

I recall my first sub and taking HOURS of time to do ballast calculations, measurements, etc. At the end of the day, I was expecting bang-on. What I got at best was "close enough".

                      David,
Another question, how come with the 2" SD for Scott 's 1/96 Beluga you used a single motor coupled with a countra rotating gear system yet with the 1/96 Albacore you used 2 motors? Click image for larger version

I have yet to assemble my BELUGA kit. The one you see in Bob's custody is Scott's work, not mine.

                          That gearbox is slick.

Yes, it is. Scott Terrey is an excellent model builder and engineer. I've had the pleasure and honor to have collaborated on a few projects with the guy.
