Dont ask me, I just put up the picture. You guys are the brains to this outfit. I was thinking along the lines of a toll bridge booth , complete with guard shack and lowering crossing arm. Or maybe a movie theater turnstile. Wheres the popcorn?:pop

First looking at it, Id say its the cooks grill and smoker . Typical post war Russian enginering. Bolt on some massive farm equipment on the back a perfectly good designed Mercedes. Thats the only Whiskey Ive seen with that gizmo. Possibly Tamir-5L or Mars-24 KIG early type sonar. There were some project 613 boats that were basiclly copies of type XXI u boats modified with various acustic detection devices or fire control systems forward for the P-5 rockets (early cruise missiles) S384 was a project 613 so that could possibly be either one, but Im more inclined to believe the rocket, because of the on the surface, "crew served" weapon appearance

I reckon it's The Head. See how it overhangs so you get a straight drop without messin' up the paint job! And of course, there's the Vent Pipe.
Stop messing about - just get a Sub-driver!

Ah........perhaps ...perhaps. Notice the privacy afforded by the stall walls. I wonder if "Charmin" was available.

It might be a older version of one of these.

Good catch, Scott. But why survey a nasty old WHISKEY sonar?

I read somewhere in my search, there was a project 613 whiskey, that was outfitted with some sort of boomed equipment on the bow to moniter underwater explosion tests. I'll have to re trace my steps and see what boat it was

The grills on the Vic/upholder are on the water inlets for the Air Turbine Pumps in the Water Transfer Tanks, the torpedo tube slide valves are above the pumps!

those pictures of the Tennesee were taken when she returned to Kings Bay from a Florida missile shoot back in Feb. She fired 3 on that shakedown deployment, after a stint in the yard. A single launch of the new Trident D5 II and a 15 second delay double shot of the legasey Ts later. I would assume they have something to do with that excersize. Possibly camera mounts. I always wondered who takes the pics underwater of the overhead POV of the doors opening and the Trident comming out. A sail mounted camera would be to far away for a good visibility underwater, of the shot. IMHO

... but thinking about it, could be a modified Danforth type.
