Yes sir! A Regulus 1. In this picture the JATO packs are painted white and therefore stand out more while many other shots show them painted a dark color so they blend in and almost disappear. As far as the submarine, I dont know which one but Growler is as good as any.

No, no, the German's are tough, brutal goose-steppers (anyway, they used to be), but they placed a very high value on their fighting men's well being and survival; they specialized in escape systems and survival equipment: on the water, under the water, in the field, and in the air.

The German's did not embrace the concept of battle-to-the-death.

Now, the Japanese .... those tough little SOB's: you want an example of selfless humans working to a group-think mentality specializing in organization, execution, and savagery (think: ant colony), I present them as the guys who put the low premium on their fighting men's comfort and means of survival in situations of extremis.

No. The German's possess the white-races sensibilities when it comes to 'self'. Then and now.

The Japanese -- when they participated as a member State of the Axis -- were a people all too willing to put State (and by extension the State endorsed Shinto religion) and Emperor ahead of self. They were the ass-holes who be-headed prisoners, slaughtered Chinese and Filipino women and children wholesale, and slammed manned airplanes and torpedoes into the enemy.

Thank god for the atomic bombs, and men who had the guts to use them!
