I just noticed that my "100 years of British submarines" book has been stolen. I let one of the employees kids who came to visit look at it while he was here. He must have thought that I have so many that I wouldnt miss it. Oh well, Im not going to accuse him, Ill just get another one.

That is an excellent book, the RN centenary meant that a lot of very good books were published this however was probably pick of the bunch.Peter.

ID:	74532British subs, I dont know, but the HMS H29 was sunk before WWII. However the USN T boats had a single tube forward, that I do know. My friend Ken Lingle was a TM2 aboard. He said they only fired Inerts and verry seldom at that, when they trained new officers. Most of the time they were used as targets for ASWClick image for larger version

And they still had those nice round flippers for dive planes in those days!

The H-Class would be really cool in 1/72 scale. A bit small at 28.5", but David can make it work...... :-)
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.

Personally, my two cents is, I dont care for RC subs less than the length of say 50". I CAN HEAR IT NOW!! Swearing Smiley Well , why then Mr. Green do you own a 40" Albacore, sir???!!! Well thats only because its FAT and short. It has enough mass and short enough in length to not be affected as much by the forces of the water that make a small sub operate in an un-scale like manner. A small sub is going to bob up and down and all over the place in anything but a dead calm. Thats just my unlettered and ordinary opinion, for what its worth.

A good way to stablise a small scale bumpy model boat, in turbulant water is add balast weights. On sub sub model You have to compinsate with the size of the air compartments to maintain the close to neural buoyancy at trim. Or like you say Build Bigger Boats, which is also much better for more scale details. My 85" type VII weighs almost 20lbs. Altho its not operational yet, when it sits in the canal and full scale boats go by, it doesnt bounce to much, but the waves just wash over the decks

VonHilde, you should do a Builders Thread on it.

I have a thread over there on the conglomoration of boats under construction, and a thread on the type II, by itself. trouble is, I havent updated either one in some time. Mostly because I havent done much lately on any of them.
