Doing some digging around and I happened upon these two photos. One is my DeBoer Skipjack (Scorpion), the other is my Thor Permit (Thresher). The Thresher was my first year at Carmel, and the first time I ever met, Dave Merriman, Skip Asay, Mike Dory, and others. The DeBoer was the one I lost in a rock quarry, but there happened to be a diving team from the local rescue squad there that found it. Good times.

Casey,
We've run into this over and over and over again when people post up something and don't see the type of responses they want/expect.
People are looking. The fact that they're not commenting is less about not being interested in what you posted and more about not having anything creative or worthwhile to contribute....Comment

the only reason I mentioned this, is because this webpage is dying. Even the regular folks aren’t posting much anymore. I mean, look at today. I hate saying it, but it just ain’t what it used to be, and this transcends into the RC sub business period. Something has got to be done to excite folks. Winter used to be the prime time for people show us what they’re building, and what they’re doing, but good God just open your eyes. I’m a member of the Subcommittee, and it’s not anything what it used to be either. But of course, no one else is going to have the balls to say what needs to be said. Make me out the bad guy folks, and make your stupid little comments, and post your stupid little pictures.Of the approximately 40,000 men who served on U-boats in WWII, it is estimated that around 28,000 to 30,000 lost their lives.Comment

Very well. So show us what you are building.

I see more activity on social media- Facebook and Youtube being the main two. These play well with smart phones, which is the main point of communication these days whereas accessing forums through such devices tends to be a bit painful.
Added to this, so many different groups/pages on these sites, and so it tends to fragment things a bit. Years ago there were only a couple of places a modeller could go to interact with other modellers in this arcane area of the hobby, so they'd get more traffic.
Regarding the Sub Committee, I've made suggestions over the years, but rather like the AMS such suggestions tend to be misrepresented and you end up getting chopped off at the ankles.Comment

I think that’s the problem. It only pays to be honest if you’re in the in crowd. I consider a lot of people in the submarine business, my friends, but don’t ask me a question that you don’t want an answer to. Sometimes I can be harsh in my answers, but I don’t mean anything by it other than honesty.I see more activity on social media- Facebook and Youtube being the main two.
