I do not have any better words than what David wrote above for what you do Andreas!

You and David as well really and honestly inspire me to do things better...

Thanks Rob....as long as your boats are good enough for you, everything is fine. There are plenty of builders that I'd regard better than me, but I'm fine with what I do and would't go through the pain and effort those guys endure in their builds.

Mission accomplished: my little side project, the drive train of a Type II submarine in 1/72 scale is done. The MWM Diesel is followed by an elastic coupling that connects to a reducing gear. After the gearbox with its cylindrical oil cooler follows the main friction clutch that separates Diesel and electric motor. The e-motor is followed by the secondary clutch and finally the propeller shaft runs through the thrust bearing. Below the Diesel one can see the port half of the fuel oil tank. I like it….

I‘m on the final lap with respect to the machine room. I‘ve attached the machine section to the front part of the pressure hull, and I‘m happy that it worked out that good. Already made some touch ups and I‘m now working on the forward bulkhead and all the pipes and valve that go there, stuff that can only be installed after the joining of the sections. More to come…

A big step on my way to build the 1/72 scale Type II submarine Vesikko with interior: with the addition of the stern crew compartment and the trim tank the main pressure hull is almost done. The stern compartment containesd four bunks, two compressed air tanks, the transmission for the stern dive planes and the drive for the rudder with the respective feedthrough under the ceiling of the room. I put in three of the four beds to allow good visibility of this crammed space.

Been busy working on the conning tower. In 1 /72 this thing is tiny....nevertheless I got it done, and even the two ton paint job turned out quite O.K.. I'm happy....

Thanks David...was a gamble if these hatch-dogs would print and survive painting and installation, But they turned out quite nicely. The fine black lines are decals, not painted.

Not as punishment, just for practice......the first interior of the conning tower was destroyed in the attempt to integrate it into the outer hull of the tower. Integration is quite tricky, as the bridge partly integrates the pressure hull into its structure and this fitting was quite complicated. In essence these challenges lead to misalignment of the pressure hull and the try to remove the glued part form the plastic parts of the kit resulted in its destruction. Good thing...3D-pronting allows for an easy replacement. So I built a second pressure hull, included some improvements like indexing pins for better alignment of floor and cylinder and then altered the approach for integration. Second try looks better......

Thnaks folks....I'm happy with the interior, but integration in the Special Hobby kit will be the next big challenge. The fit is not as good as for the Bronco kit of the XXIII and I add all the PE of RC-Subs. That's a rather complex 3D puzzle.

The conning tower is taking shape. The fit of the parts of the kit is O.K. bug not excellent. So it took some work to get everything into the right shape and position. The PE parts are by RC Subs and are a great addition, but took quite some work to install. The pressure hull of the conning tower got it's LED light that is powered by a 20 mA constant current source. Soon the pressure hull will find its place inside the conning tower and then on with some more details....

The pressure hull of the 1/72 scale model of the Type II submarine Vesikko is pretty much done. Here's a first look of the result with lights on. Currently I'm integrating the pressure hull into the outer hull of the plastic kit....

Are you considering selling the STL files for any of your work? It really is spectacular work you do there.
If you can cut, drill, saw, hit things and swear a lot, you're well on the way to building a working model sub.
